G. A. Bischoff & Company
George Bischoff moved to Gainesville Texas in 1894 and in the 1895 Gainesville City Directory Bischoff was listed as a general blacksmith, with his shop at 108 South Dixon Street. A short time later he moved his shop to the corner of Main and Rusk streets where he made Carriages and Bits and Spurs. Bischoff spurs have a unique and highly recognizable style the shanks of the spurs he made are different than any other handmade spur. The metal work and hand engraved silver are also unique to his own design. In 1915 the last livery stable in Gainesville closed and later that year Bischoff sold his bit and spur business to Charles P. Shipley.
